Game Story

Nancy Drew®:Secret of the Old Clock

Venture into the Past and Outwit a Criminal Before Time Runs Out!

It’s 1930 and Nancy Drew is asked to visit Emily Crandall, in Titusville, a girl whom Nancy knows only through a mutual friend. She and her mother had been counting on the generosity of their kindly but strange neighbor, Josiah Crowley, to leave them part of his estate to support the inn they own. But in his will, everything was left to Richard Topham, his ESP teacher. A contested will, a suffering girl, suspicious psychics — can Nancy solve the mystery before time runs out in Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock?

Reviews

“The good news is that the mini-games are designed well and offer engaging play (I really enjoyed MasterMind!), and the atmosphere of the 1930's is also fun.” ~PC GameZone

“The Secret of the Old Clock brings the number of games in the Nancy Drew series to an even dozen. While this is an impressive accomplishment for any series, that's not Clock's only distinction. The game is based on the first book in the Nancy Drew canon, the game's release date is the 75th anniversary of that book's publication, and the game is done in period, right down to Nancy's more-or-less Model A roadster. Clock carries all this baggage effortlessly, providing players with one of the most sprightly entries in the series.” ~FourFatChicks

“Like a cake, Her Interactive has all the ingredients – dialogue, voice work, and story – to cook up a confection that will be enjoyed by both Junior and Senior detectives. They even add a few new things such as an in-game map and a roadster (cool!) to get around in.” ~Adventure Gamers

Secret of the Old Clock

This game was the first I ever played by myself at the age of around 7-8. For about 1 or 2 years I had watched my siblings playing other games. It was a game that wasn't very hard for someone of a younger age, they could pick up how to play and the task lists. Going back now, I would most likely have hardly any trouble with the puzzles.
The settings really gave you the 1900's feeling. Old fashioned typewriters, the low fuel tank (;) and the telegram deliveries. Although in many games you have a slight puzzle that makes you go bonkers, CLK had the problems of fishing, but it was engaging and something that had ways of skipping. It was a keypoint at a stage to move forwards.
Although I haven't played this game for about 5 years, my brother and I still find ourselves saying the Zippy 'chant' and the Telegram man. 🙂

Secret of the old clock

This was very very fun. driving was enjoyable but i would like it if there was more cars on the road like in trail of the twister. it was also fun catching fish. i love the book for secret of the old clock but ive only read the 50s one so im not sure how close this is to the original 30s books. the ending was pretty good i liked the atmosphere and the golf. music is great. characters were likable especially Jim and Emily.

My Experience

I liked the puzzles in this game. I was able to figure them out without having to search online, which I liked. I did not like having to drive to each location. Steering with the keyboard is not the easiest. ***Slight spoiler*** At the end, it was challenging trying to chase the suspect.
I feel that the game ended abruptly. I felt that I still had a few steps left.

First and Favorite

This was the very first game I played at about 6 or 7. It's classic and true to the books and while its much different from the rest of the games, it had me hooked for life. Something about the characters and the setting mixed with the music gives it this lively yet eerie feel. The change of setting and time period hit the nail on the head s far as execution.

My favorite ND game!

This was my first Nancy Drew game. I liked it so much that I became a fan and now own most of the Nancy Drew games. Yet Secret of the Old Clock is my favorite. It is a great game, and I'm so glad that it can still be played on Windows 10 all these years later!

So short!

I loved the setting, the plot, the music, the time, everything! It was quite easy, which was fun for once. But it was over so soon! That was a shame...

Travel Back in Time

Set in the 30's play the story that started it all, Nancy Drew visits the Lilac Inn to see Helen Corning whose mother has recently died, strange things are happening at the Inn, jewelry disappears, the stove explodes and Helen seems to be losing it.

Use a coin phone on the porch, play mini golf, learn about hobo signs, drive Nancy's blue roadster, deliver telegrams, sort pies. This game is so great, I love that it is set in the 30's and has all these old things and references to old things everywhere, it's so much fun. Definitely a great choice to play.

Loved it!

Every part of this was awesome. It was quite an easy ND, which is one of the reasons I liked it so much. It does require a lot of thinking, but in such a way that it's still relaxing. This whole experience was beautiful. You didn't really need to talk to characters a lot, which means you don't spend a lot of time just talking and talking and talking, but just clicking and solving the mystery. You are very well guided throughout the story with a good task list that gives you a nice overview of what you've done and what you've still got to do.

This game is definitely one of my faves, because it's so relaxing and yet brain-cracking.
